Thermal imaging for commercial kitchen equipment
Preventive and diagnostic infrared imaging for catering equipment.
CES Wellington's technicians use thermal imaging as a preventive and diagnostic tool on commercial catering equipment. An infrared camera shows temperature differences on parts you cannot judge by eye: electrical connections, contactors, motors, fans and heating circuits.
What a scan can show
- Loose or overheating electrical connections and contactors, before they fail.
- Motors and fans that are running hot.
- Elements and heating circuits that are failing.
- Uneven heat, or airflow that is blocked.
The camera does not touch the equipment. A scan can be done while the kitchen is running, so it does not need a shutdown. The images go into the service report, with a plain note of what we found.
Planned maintenance
Thermal imaging fits a planned maintenance visit, every 4 months or six-monthly, with quarterly visits for kitchens trading 7 days a week or running early to late. It is one more way to pick up a hot connection, a hot-running motor or a heating circuit that is starting to fail, before it stops the kitchen.
Breakdown diagnosis
On a breakdown call, a thermal image can help show which part is hot and which is not, alongside the usual electrical and gas checks. It does not replace those checks. Our technicians are registered electrical and gas technicians.

FAQ
Does the kitchen have to stop for a thermal scan?
No. Thermal imaging is non-contact. The equipment can stay running, so the scan does not need downtime.
Can thermal imaging be part of planned maintenance?
Yes. It fits a planned maintenance visit that is every 4 months or six-monthly, with quarterly visits for kitchens trading 7 days a week or running early to late, and the images are included in the service report.
Can you use it when something has already broken down?
Yes. On a breakdown it can help show a hot connection, a hot-running motor or a heating circuit that is not doing its job. It sits alongside the usual electrical and gas checks.
