Ovens we repair

Our technicians repair the ovens commercial kitchens rely on every day:

  • Combi ovens. Steam, convection and combination cooking. We're service agents for Rational and Convotherm, and we service and repair Unox combi ovens. See combi oven repairs.
  • Convection ovens. Fan-forced ovens in cafés, bakeries and school and hospital kitchens. See convection oven servicing.
  • High-speed ovens. Merrychef and TurboChef rapid-cook ovens in cafés, bars and quick-service kitchens. We're service agents for both.
  • Deck, rack and conveyor ovens. Bakery deck and rack ovens, plus conveyor ovens, including conveyor pizza ovens. We service and repair conveyor ovens of all brands. See pizza and conveyor ovens.
  • Gas and electric ovens. Both sides are covered.
  • Ranges with ovens. Cooktop on top, oven underneath, often the hardest-working thing on the line.

Our technicians are registered electrical and gas technicians, so gas and electrical work is handled in one visit.

Common oven faults we see

  • Not heating, or uneven heat. Hot spots, one side cooking faster, or barely warm at all.
  • Temperature not reached. The oven heats but won't get to the set temperature, or takes far too long.
  • Thermostat, probe and sensor faults. Readings that don't match what's happening inside, or a core probe that's stopped working.
  • Ignition and flame faults on gas ovens. Won't light, lights then drops out, or a weak or uneven flame.
  • Element failures on electric ovens. A burnt-out element, or one that trips the power.
  • Fan faults. Noisy, slow or not turning, which ruins even cooking in a convection or combi oven.
  • Door seals and hinges. Worn seals let heat and steam out. Loose or broken hinges stop the door closing properly.
  • Steam and water faults on combis. No steam, too much water, leaks or water supply problems.
  • Scale build-up. Hard water leaves scale in steam generators and on parts, cutting performance.
  • Error codes. Most modern ovens show a code when something's wrong. Take a photo of it before you call.

We'll find the cause and tell you what it needs before we go any further.

Registered gas and electrical technicians for commercial kitchen repairs

Plenty of oven faults sit right where gas and electrical meet: a gas oven with an electronic ignition, or a combi with gas burners and electronic controls. Because our technicians are registered for both, you don't need two trades. We fix gas and electrical faults across commercial catering equipment, not general electrical work. Every job gets a service report, plus gas or electrical certification as required. For more on gas work, see gas and electrical catering equipment repairs.

What to do while you wait

If you smell gas: turn off the gas supply if it's safe to do so, open doors and windows, and don't use switches, phones near the appliance, or any naked flame. Get people out and call your gas supplier's emergency line, or 111 if there's immediate danger. Then call us.

  • Stop using it if it's not right. An oven that won't hold temperature isn't cooking food safely.
  • Switch it off if it's tripping or sparking. Turn it off at the wall or isolator, if it's safe to do so.
  • Leave the panels on. There are live electrical and gas parts inside. Leave that to us.
  • Get the details ready. Find the make, model and serial number on the rating plate, and photograph any error code.
  • Tell us your trading hours. If you've got a big service tonight, say so.

Planned maintenance for ovens

Regular servicing catches worn seals, scale and tired parts before they stop service. Every 4 months or six-monthly is ideal. If your kitchen trades 7 days or runs early to late, quarterly visits may suit better. We also offer asset management, so you can keep track of every oven and its service history. See commercial oven servicing for what an oven service covers, and planned maintenance for the full picture.

Ranges, grills and the rest of the cookline

As well as ovens, we repair gas and electric ranges and cooktops, chargrills, griddles and salamanders, bratt pans and kettles, pizza and conveyor ovens and Merrychef and TurboChef speed ovens. See also fryer repairs and gas and electrical certification.
